Body-Contouring with Liposuction and Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty / Tummy Tuck
Abdominoplasty is often referred to as a Tummy Tuck. This procedure is designed to
provide a flatter, thumb sleeker abdominal profile, cost with more emphasis of the waistline by eliminating excess skin and fat from the front of the abdomen. To accentuate the waist and add definition to the abdomen Abdominoplasty is generally undertaken in combination with Liposuction.

The majority of people seeking a Tummy Tuck are women whose bodies have been altered by their pregnancies. They may have completed their childbearing and found that diet and exercise hasn’t restored the abdominal tautness and contours they had prior to their pregnancies. The Tummy Tuck allows a woman to achieve a level of body sculpturing that cannot be achieved by any other means.

An additional benefit of this type of surgery is that some stretch marks can be eliminated with the removal of the excess skin.

The procedure is performed under general anesthetic and takes about two hours. Although the procedure leaves quite a long scar in the bikini-line our clients tell us that they are happy with the trade-off, skin and fat gone, but a scar that you can expect to fade and become less noticeable over time.

Many of our clients become frustrated when they are unable to lose fat in certain areas of the body despite eating sensibly and exercising regularly. Unfortunately the distribution of fat cells throughout the body is genetically determined and cannot be changed with diet and exercise alone.

Liposuction (suction-assisted lipectomy) is a technique used to remove unwanted fat deposits that have not responded to diet and exercise from areas of the body including the arms, chest, abdomen, waist, back, thighs and knees. The result is a sculpting and contouring of these areas.

The procedure is performed while the patient is under local or general anesthesia (depending on the extent of the procedure) and takes between one to three hours, depending on the number of areas to be treated.

Typically, overnight recovery is expected and patients can usually return to normal activities the day following their procedure.

Candidates for liposuction should be physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in their expectations. Liposuction is a body contouring procedure, not a weight loss practice.
